Merit was founded in 1966 as a garage machine and tool and die shop by a group of five partners. The combination of the beginning letter of each of their last names resulted in MERIT – thus the namesake for the company. William Muck became a partner in 1984 and sole owner a year later.
Mr. Muck moved the business from the garage to Greengarden Blvd., and in 1991, moved to its present location where they grew from 3,500 sq. feet to 20,000 sq. feet while also dramatically increasing the number of employees.
Throughout the years Merit has grown, evolved and perfected core competencies in production machining and tool making, specifically molds. Merit Industries is the combined specialty and capability of Merit Precision Manufacturing as well as Merit Tool Company.
In 2013, the company was acquired by John R. Churchill, Jr. Mr. Churchill is passionately dedicated toward the pursuit of American manufacturing excellence and has begun to implement a strategy for growth with a focus on quality and service.
AS9100 certification has brought about a strategic change in thought and philosophy and promotes great dedication to ongoing process improvement. The Merit team looks forward to working with you to provide advanced manufacturing capability, unparalleled process expertise and world class turnkey solutions.
